Painted Edge by The Gables a Hit in NY

Last week we were off to New York for the International Gift Fair at Pier 94 to sell our new furniture line, Painted Edge, designed by us and made right here in Georgia. We had a GREAT response to our first showing  in NY and want to thank everyone who came by our booth. We got lots of comments on our color palette, and it was music to our ears. The Lido desk was hands-down the favorite piece along with our side tables, the Santa Barbara Oval Dining Table, Positano Console, and the Mendocino Coffee Table.

Two celebrity designers came by: Bunny Williams and Celerie Kemble, the New York interior design “it girl” and author of several books.  We were star-struck to say the least! We would like to say a big thank you to Sally Steponkus and her friends, who follow our blog and came by to meet us and see the line, and to New York designer Meg Braff who had her room photographed with a Painted Edge dining table. We are planning to go to the fair again–It was so exhilarating!

Give Painted Edge another look on our website.

Recently, Flower magazine included The Gables’ The Painted Edge collection in their line up of eco-conscious furniture. Here’s what they had to say:

Rosettes are Green
The Gables Antiques has introduced Painted Edge, a new line of furniture made in Georgia from sustainable woods and hand-painted with a durable, non-toxic finish. The Monaco Commode ($3,395) is based on the design of an antique piece and features three prominent rosettes on the drawer fronts to remind us of what we love.

Happy New Year to clients and antiques aficionados alike. We’re thrilled to ring in 2010 with our new blog! We also want to keep you updated on what’s new in-store. We had some exciting placements in the press last year, and promise to keep you up to date about any upcoming stories.

In the mean time, check out what our clients, design friends and magazines have to say about us.

In Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles‘ September 2009 issue, The Gables put a stronghold on the letter “G” in editor Clinton Ross Smith’s feature article, “A to Z: Guide to Style.” Smith writes, “The Gables Antiques has long been known for its French antiques, but the recent addition of beautiful painted furniture expands the shop’s offerings. We just can’t figure out which ones we love most!”

Not to be outdone, AH&L’s December 2009 issue featured a high-profile interior design project by Atlanta designers Will Huff and Heather Dewberry. The client’s breakfast room, beautifully captured by photographer Erica George Dines and the magazine editors, features a dining table sourced from the Gables.

We continued our partnership with our friends at 1stdibs.com. For those antiques hunters out wondering what’s hot now, check out their list of what sold during the month of December here. From silver-plated bar carts to Murano glass lamps, the list will surprise you.

Check back with us often to find out what’s arrived in-store, which pieces are flying out of the store, and design articles we think are worth sharing.
